Player Control

Keyboard

The Keyboard is the most commonly used form of player control because the end user (the person who plays your game) can't expected to have a gamepad. Most keyboard control revolves around either using WASD or the arrow keys for direction.

Mouse

The mouse is used for control mostly in addition to the keyboard. Input from the mouse includes local and global mouse clicks as well as the position of the mouse cursor.

Joystick / Gamepad

Game Maker handles Joysticks and game pads with the same set of functions.
